Jan and I have known each other for over ten years. We've travelled together, observed together, and talked endlessly about what makes a place feel the way it does.

His eye is quiet and precise — he doesn't only photograph hotels, he photographs the world around them. The light, the landscape, the texture of a place before anyone has checked in.

The images span five countries and countless moments of stillness. Each one a small study in how atmosphere is made.
